History/Bio: Out of the city, in the country side is a church. The small town of which it lays in is surrounded by nature of mountains, forests, and rivers. The church is a Gothic style with large mosaic window panes and flying buttresses that give make the church look like a cross from an aerial view. All the towns people visit the church in times or worship and sorrow.
That day the sky had been covered by a blanket of clouds. Rain showered the town in a light drizzle. Rains was rare in the town for usually the clouds rolled by, not raining upon the town. Lanterns that hung from peoples' homes give the town a nice ambiance. Not a soul walked the streets. All the stalls had been closed up due to the weather. No one was outside except for one woman. She adjusted her hood over her head and quickly walked to the church. She kept the hem of her skirt above the ground to keep it out of the mud. She walked to the entrance of the church and after keeping her face in the shadows of her hood, revealed herself. Her face was a bit dirty, mostly everyone's was, but there were clear tear marks down her cheeks. Her big brown eyes were puffy and red. Her nose was pink and so were cheeks. She swallowed down some of her sadness and pulled the handle to the large mahogany doors to the church.
She entered and closed the door behind her quietly. The priest was probably in his quarters,  but her left his church open always for those who needed it. The woman walked down the aisle and sat down in a random row. She said a quick prayer and looked around. There was no one in the church and the candles gave off a warm glow. She stood and walked to a statue of the Virgin Mary. She kneeled onto the prayer bench and did the sign of the cross. She then broke down crying and clutched her stomach. She looked up the cold statue. "Why has He taken away such a blessing?"
The priest had awoken to the sound of weeping and entered the church with a lantern.
"Yiumi?" the priest asked. Yiumi turned around and smiled but let out a sob.
"Oh, Father. I was with child and it was taken away from me." she wept. He walked closer to her and stroked her hair, "It will be alright child." he reassured her.
AS they sat there, Yiumi listened to the sound of the rain tapping against the window panes. She was about to get up when there was a knock at church doors. "Strange," said the priest. He stood and walked to the doors. "Most just enter. No need for knocking." He opened the door and looked around. His gaze trailed down to the ground. "Your fate might not be as bleak as you thought, child. "he said to Yiumi. She did the sign of the cross to the statue and walked over to the doors. He set his lantern down and picked up a wicker basket from the ground outside. He gently re-entered the church smiling at the contents within the basket. Yiumi looked at him with curious eyes. He carefully handed her the basket.
Inside lay a baby, swaddled in a dirty rag that was used for cleaning animal pens. Yiumi quickly set the basket down and picked the babe up and unwrapped it out of the rag. She took off her cloak and wrapped the babe up in it. She held the baby in her arms and rocked it gently. "It's a girl." She whispered. "He has surely blessed you, child." the priest told her.
"I shall name her Reyny, for she was brought to me upon a day of this rare weather."

I think we all understand that the world if undergoing a environmental crisis. Global warming, hole in the O-zone, populations of animals depleting, etc. But even though you believe you can't, you CAN help. We need to raise our voice. Did you know that there is a dolphin on the brink of extinction? Yea, it's called the Hector's Dolphin. Only 55 left and their protection expires November 22nd. Sign a petition to alert the prime minster of New Zealand that he HAS  to do something. I'm a huge nature activist and I intend to help save this planet if it's the last thing I do.
